altar663
a fine wooden altar
The altar is a rather makeshift affair, having been erected by an amateur - carried along no doubt by some religious fervour. It is simply a collection of planks, and nails, in the form of a rough sunburst. A fitting tribute though, from a sincere mortal to one of the great gods of Avalon.

chalice664
a silver chalice
The chalice is wrought of purest silver from the forges of Orthanius, god of fire in Olympus. It is unblemished and carries the emblem of Helios, god of the sun. Truly a valuable treasure and a gift from the Gods themselves. It is empty of liquid.

build altar (with no nails)
Using your hammer, and your wood, and your nails, you settle down before the statue of Helios, god of the sun and set about erecting a makeshift altar.

Your hands are taken up by divine purpose and a vision of the altar comes into your mind; a wooden sunburst, to signify the might of Helios, god of the sun.
Rapidly you fashion out your vision and before long you have completed your work; a rough-edged wooden sunburst altar stands before you. You step back, satisfied.
A ray of light issues in from without, catching the new sunburst altar and changing the colour of the wood from brown to flame-red.
The intensity of the light grows, until you are forced to avert your eyes for a moment. When you return your glance, the illumination is gone - but before you, you espy a gift from Helios, god of the sun, a silver chalice.
