Balur is an enormous dwarf, standing nearly as tall as yourself with great muscular proportions. He looks the match of anyone in single combat, and you are hardly surprised that he is a lieutenant.Balur, the lieutenant of the tower is a picture of health and vitality. Balur, the lieutenant of the tower is not holding anything. Balur, the lieutenant of the tower is not wearing anything.
The firewood is dry and ready to burn, having been aired in the lumber rooms of Thaumacie for a time. The dwarves make much use of fire to stoke their furnaces and fire their smithies.
The shards are make of a hard volcanic glass, which is very light whilst being very sharp (you manage to cut your finger on a piece). If reforged, the shards could probably make an excellent sword.
The sword is forged of black volcanic obsidian, and is light whilst being very sharp and strong. The blade is marked with the rune of Drogar the master-smith. It is marked with the stamp of Warrior Krill. The weapon is in reasonably good repair.
Sometimes the wood is already burning so you need to douse it. If it says "You reach out to pick up the camp-fire, and burn your hands! Silly!" then the quest might need to reset.

Balur grins. "Most dwarves favour the battleaxe as a weapon, but I have always desired a great sword for my pains. I have never found one suitable, but have heard that Drogar of Mercinae can forge obsidian. Can you get me such a sword. I would reward you greatly."
greet balur
Drogar sniffs softly. "I have not worked obsidian in far too long, my good friend. Perhaps you could find some for me that I may once again work this mystical substance.".
greet drogar
You arrange the firewood into a camp-fire, and light it carefully. It burns and crackles nicely, and gives out an extraordinary heat.
light wood
Drogar comes over and looks at the shards. "Hmm. Obsidian eh? Haven't worked Obsidian since the days of Zarach-zil and the Dwarven kings. Makes a nice sword - wait here for a minute." He then goes over to his assistants and has a whispered discussion.
give shards to drogar
The smiths fire up the forges.
Drogar places the shards in a large melting-pot.
The shards slowly begin to melt, forming a thick black liquid. The smiths place the sword mould in a cold forge with a great hiss of steam.
Drogar scratches his rune onto the blade, and hands it to you, cold to the touch. "There you are, on the house!" he booms, pleased to have worked such excellent material, and you thank him profusely.
You hand the Obsidian Sword to Balur who takes it gladly from you. He leaps about joyfully for a few moments, before solemnly presenting you his profuse thanks.
