It is a magical dwarven palette, blessed with everlasting colours with which to paint. The dwarves are keen artists and this is one of their most useful inventions.
The painting shows a deep orange sunset behind rolling hills. Upon the hills stretch woodland and a lake ripples cool refreshing water nearby. However, behind the hills; silhouetted against the sky is a dark figure. Evil eyes stare back at you from the canvas, gloomily suggesting revenge.
As soon as you place the brush on the canvas you feel yourself overtaken by a greater force which guides your hand into skilled movements. You are helpless as the brush controls you.
paint canvas when have paintbrush and palette
A series of quick movements of the brush outline your picture.
You find yourself colouring a deep sunset behind the rolling hills.
The brush forces your hand down to add a small wood on the side of one of the hills. You are staggered by the vividness of the colouring.
Beside the wood, your paintbrush dabs in a lake; rippling cool waters fed by an underground spring.
Finally your brush reaches itself down towards the black paint and moves towards the canvas.
With slow, deliberate movements, the brush paints in an awesome figure silhouetted against the sky. A pair of eyes, deep as the wells of the moon, stare darkly back at you.
The painting is complete and the brush vanishes along with the palette. The easel upon which you painted deeps to melt away, and before long all that remains is the picture itself.
