Emergency: present way of life unsustainable, alternatives needed QUICK....




Monday 19th Febuary ground was broken in el huertohorta, an unused field in Horta and potatos were planted.This work was carried out by the gardening crew from El Barco, the new social centre in Horta. The potatos have been watered and yesterday a lovely picnic was had by the crew of El Barco and other pirata types. Plans are underway to attempt to create a greenway for the city also, see photo attached. This is an idea for a CPUL which is an idea being worked on by an eco city group that arrived to Barcelona from Bosnia to Ireland, see the irish community gardening experience, to here. It is a alternative method to present oil dependant unsustainable systems of food production.

Learning from and bringing the principles used in Can Mesdau deeper into the city, creating a greenway with nodal points of gardens, communities, projects, social spaces. a network from which far more can grow.

- Raval, official park with food production zone, not sure how used
- Mountjuic, plenty of space and also a botanic gardens, which ties into Dublin idea as botanic garden network for ecological inputs into city.
- Ciudella, main park, a small space designated as a community garden, way to highlight as very well used area, some unused buildings?
- Barcelonetta : Miles de Viviendas who are looking for a space at present, they are also running the pirate university
