"RANGED FUN"
A GAME OF FUN - AT DIFFERENT RANGES
OVERVIEW
Ranged Fun is a simple game of vehicular urban shootyness. The original rules were written on a single page of A4 in large handwriting. They were fast and they worked.
Most of the expansion presented here is terminology and clarification. What`s new is the mission and campaign generator, and this overview section which is getting
distressingly large as I add more to it.

The core of the game is based around the four statistics which each unit has. These are reduced as the unit is damaged, so they gradually loose effectiveness before
being destroyed. This means there is some bookeeping involved, but it means the rules are
great for quick skirmish games. The statistics themselves are generalised: each is the combination of many factors the unit may have.
For example, all the guns, ammo, rate of fire, targeting efficiency and range are represented by a single number. As the number is reduced through damage, it can
represent individual guns being disabled, hampered aiming, ammo destroyed etc. This may not be that realistic but it speeds gameplay and reduces bookkeeping.

This is after all a game of fun - at different ranges. At this point I must thank:

Masamune Shirow: Many many years ago his article on urban tank warfare and the whole `Dominion` thing inspired the first draft of these rules.

Derek Williams: For coining the phrase `Long Range Fun`

[2006 note: I first came up with these rules in The Big Hard One doodlebook, before I encounted Games Workshop's Epic rules, and Steve Jackson's Ogre rules,
both of which I recommend (well, Ogre and the newer re-released Epic, anyway)

REVISION 2.0
After extensive play testing (Thanks to Vic, Adam, Derek, and James) some rules have been tweaked: Forward observers for VLRF, Cover values for buildings, and the value
and ablative nature of VSRF. The rules were getting messy, so here is a complete rewrite with everything in the right place.

OVERVIEW
[Another one?]
The game is based around pushing units around a map, so you can use counters on squared paper or minitures on a full terrain tabletop, the choice is yours. It is also
based around a d4 system, so make sure each player has a 4 sided die. Also get a pen, pencil and eraser for each player because each unit has stats which go down
when they are damaged, then up when they are repaired.

Each player has a team of mercenaries.
Each vehicle or group of infantry or otherwise is a UNIT.
Units have the following 4 statistics:

A unit may have one or both of two additional stats:

A unit will have a movement type:

The other `thing` on the tabletop which have stats will be BUILDINGS.
Buildings have an ARMOUR value and a STRUCTURE value. Their armour is dependent on their size, their structure points based on their material.
