Misstatements
- On July 21, 2008,
McCain, in an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, said:
"I think it's serious. . . . It's a serious situation, but there's a lot of things we need to do. We have a lot of work to do and I'm afraid it's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq/Pakistan border."
Iraq and Pakistan do not share a border.

- Criticized Obama for advocating military strikes in Pakistan without Pakistani government approval, but is now advocating the same.

- Was against indefinite detainment of terrorism suspects, but is now for it.
- Was for diplomacy with Hamas and Syria before he was against it.
