PoliDirt Wiki is a resource for Internet-based publicly-available political opposition research, or "oppo" as it is so cleverly called.
Users are encouraged to link to external sites or mirrors thereof containing or describing facts related to any United States political figure. (If this goes well, we'll expand to other countries.)
Entries should consist of:
*An Initial Entry identifying the public figure by his or her full name, political party, office or candicacy, state, and a link to that person's own personal web site, if any.
*Subsequent entries linking to the person's Initial Entry and to the URL containing the fact, picture, or public record.
*The subsequent entry should also contain an opinion-neutral summary or digest of the fact.
*The subsequent entry should also contain a +Spin, -Spin, or ◊Spin1, designating the submitter's personal opinion as to whether the fact represents a positive, negative or neutral aspect of the public figure. The user opting to include a spin designation must include, after the designation, his or her username. A short reason may be included after the spin designation. Subsequent readers may add their own spin opinion and reason, but the original user's opinion is sacred.
*Entries may be modified by adding links to mirror sites, facts representing supporting or detracting facts relating to the veracity of the fact, or "treed" tangential information adding details to the fact.
For example, see the Original Entry for George Walker Bush.
- Linked to and from the original entry is a record explaining that George Bush was Governor of Texas
- Linked to the subsequent entry is a list of laws enacted and signed into law by George Bush while he was governor.
