How to backup wiki incl. pictures?
Question: Is there a way to do a backup in which the pictures that are in the wiki also get backed up? The leech function doesn't seem to get a copy of the images.

How to embed a youtube-video?
Question: I'd like to embed a youtube-video. It doesn't work. What should I do?

How to subscribe to a page?
Question: I'd like to get email anytime a certain page changes. GeboGebo said this was a feature. Is it turned off at wikihost? If not, how do I subscribe? I haven't found any howto for this anywhere. (I don't want to use the RSS feature.) Thanks.
Answer:

How to clear history?
Question: Is there any way to clear the previous drafts of a post?
Answer:

Editing discussions
Question: Is it possible (or will it be in the future) to edit discussion posts?
Answer:

How to remove user from userlist?
Question: Is there any way to remove a user from my wiki's userlist?
Answer:

How to activate Users?
Question: After a new registration you receive an email "..This user's account needs to be reviewed and activated by an administrative user before he/she can login..." Cannot seem to find this activation? ;(
I have spent many hours searching for this as well and have become extremely frustrated, I follow the link in the e-mail to .../wiki/gebo:userlist but there is no way to perform the 'activate' that seems to be required! :-(
Answer:Hello! I hope you'll understand my english, it's not very good.
I had the same problem, and I don't know what is the "official" way to activate new users, but i can tell you my own way.
You've only to type "link http://wikihost.org/wikis/NAMEOFYOURWIKI/wiki/gebo:userlist", and you'll get a page with a table, where you find all the user that have register to your wiki, with a green link "Activate".
You've only to check(click? Ehm, I don't know how to say...:|) the link, and - voilà! The user is activate.
Remember that the user have *first* to register on link http://wikihost.org, and only *then* she can register on your wikipage. (I didn't understand that at once...)
Good luck!
Question:But there is no "Activate" link :/
Answer:At the beginning: sorry for my bad english :-). I currently test the user activation.
1. another user register at your wiki
2. you got an e-mail including n link
3. follow the link........it will open a window called gebo:userlist like the link from the 1. answer.
4. on the page there are a table with users. At the first plase your own name......you also search the new name.
5. if you found the new name you also can see an link called activate at the end of the line.
6. klick it
7. activate link will change in deaktivate
8. well done you activate a new user

Question: There doesn't seem to be any activate link anywhere in a list of that type.
Question: I'm having the same problem; there is no "activate" link on the userlist.
Question: I don't have any activate links on my wiki's userlist, either.===== How to change the password?
Question: I logged into wikihost.org and tried to find an option like "my account" to change my password. Cannot seem to find it - does it exist?
Answer: After the login the tabs "Login" and "Register" disappear and instead a new tab "My wikihost.org" is displayed. There you can change your details and see and configure your wikis. Thomas@wikihost
SubQuestion: What happened to the Mywikihost.org control panel?
Question: (2007-July) Can someone please provide a link to the control panel for the wikis we own? I am logged into my wiki, and no "My wikihost.org" button is appearing anywhere!
Answer: Visit link http://wikihost.org/ (not your wiki). Login there. After that you will see the tab "My wikihost.org" where all your wikis are listed.

How do I change the overall layout of the page?
Question: E. g.: Any way to change the standard colors of the top bar?
Answer:: We are planning customization options for the future, but can not tell a release date, yet. Thomas@wikihost

Qustion: Has there been any progress on this?
Answer:: No, nothing new to report about.

How do I get a backup non-interactively from my wiki to an alternate site?
Question: I want to do a regular backup of my wiki to an alternate site.
How do I get wget or another tool running to accomplish this?
Answer: Try this one:

http://wikihost.org/wikis/YOURWIKI/programm/gebo.prg?action=fullexport

to get a tar.gz-archive with all your pages content. This is not identically to the leech function in the admin's page on wikihost.org. Here you will only get the wiki texts.
This is kind of a security backup to ensure your data won't get lost. Unfortunately there is no import function for this working yet, so it is only usefull as worst case backup.

Create a new Wiki?
Question: It's mad, but I can't find the way to create a new Wiki in Wikihost.org. I once did it without help by a form or alike.
Answer: Login at link www.wikihost.org, go to /My wikihost.org\ and see left.

Can I delete one of my wikis?
Question: I want to delete my wikis because I moved the contents to a wiki with another name. Is this possible?
Answer: NO! (But I can do so for you :-)

Question: Can i just rename my wiki? i have elliott as a wiki but i want to rename it to astrx and just have all the contents moved?
Answer: No, you can not. At least not the system name which is the one used on the servers hard disk etc. The descriptive name (the long name) is of course changeable.

How to upload pictures?
Question: there is a note that uploading pics is possible in the gebogebo manual, but i cant find the option to upload pics from my computer into my wiki.
is it possible at all?
Answer: Yes, it is. See the first passage at wishes_and_ideas

Page is Locked Time?
Question: How can i Change the time the wiki is locked after a change/view into sourcecode?
Answer: Currently there is no way to manipulate the lock time setting here at wikihost.org. GeboGebo itself allows this of course. If it is really a need for you, we can change it at your will (for your wiki).

Single Moderated Page in my Wiki
Question: it would be cool if i could change some areas of my wiki into moderated, how can i do that?
Answer: Unfortunately at the moment you can not do so. The only thing to restrict changes to a page is to disable anonymous edit by checking the corresponding checkbox. This is bound to the abilities of GeboGebo, but it is already planned for a future release to support some kind of page/namespace protection (by passwords or ownership for example).
Question2: Is this answer still up to date? I have seen a wiki on wikihost.org protecting it's start page, but not the other pages. Anyone any ideas how this works?

Uploading Files
Question: in the Manual is noted that it is possible to upload files, but there is no description of howto do that... could you please help me?
Answer: I'll try :-). Instead of placing a [[link]] you need to have a ((file:link)) pointing to a new page of the file: namespace. When you click this link it takes you to a new, not yet existsing page. There use the Edit-button to see a different edit form. It holds a file upload field which is to select your file on your local hard disk.
You are absolutely right: the manual needs a lot more info on this. Here is an example: file file:uploadtest

Syntax not working???
Question: It's mad, but I can't find the way to create a new Wiki in Wikihost.org

Browser sensible?
Question: The link http://www.offbyone.com browser is unable to show accurately wikihost pages. Why? It is readable but makes the site difficult to use.

Function manual
Question: The link to the manual on link www.gebogebo.org seems to be broken?

Comment: I use Link this link

What is a macro?
Question: What is a macro (the link to the manual is broken!)
Answer: A simple function, which dynamically is run, whenever the page that contains it, is displayed. Read about macros here: link http://www.gebogebo.org/wiki/manual:macros Thomas@wikihost

Forum
Question: Gebogebo has a fun forum in gebogebo. Are you the same crew? If yes can you add a separate forum branche for the wiki. I find that a wiki isn't really a real good discussions environment!
Answer: We now added the special namespace talk: which enables a forum style discussion. It is available for each page and can be reached by the "Discussion" button on the top bar, or a in text placed link like this [[talk:|Discuss this]] which then is Discuss this
Sub-Question: Is there a way to edit or eliminate entrys in the discussion-site ? at my wiki (link www.gute-news.de) there are spammers who in the "talk:"-sites...

How to stamp
Question: If the discussions pages continue to stay in the wiki and not in a forum, how to stamp?
Answer: I guess, this issue now is solved by the new discussion feature. see the button "Discussion" on the top bar.

German discussion
Question: Why only English discussion? You are a German provider: Ich, Franzose, m«chte beispielsweise sagen, dass die langen Zeilen im Wiki-Editor nerven (+nervantes!), weil sie die Fehlerbeseitigung wesentlich erschweren, und meine gewohnheit, fliesstext zu schreiben, nicht aufgeben m«chte, dass wªre, mich zu gew«hnen, meine absªtze zu zerhacken (ich schreibe gern absªtze, die eine ganze seite ohne punkt voll f¼llen ;-) !), kenne aber das englische Wort nicht, so viel English schreibe ich ja nicht!
Will man uns in Europa weiterhin diese vollkommen idiotische Vorgehensweise zumuten?
Answer:Late answer, though. Well we chose English as main language in order to support all the international users we have. Of course we could exchange ourselves in German, too. No problem at all. But a huge part of the wikihost.org community would not be able to understand us then. English is the language used most. Aber gerne k«nnen Sie ihre Fragen auch auf Deutsch (oder Franz«sisch) stellen.

Clicking on the page
Question: Wakka wikki offers a real very practical function: clicking on the page by logged-in user opens the editing window! You don't have to scroll until the bottom of the page to find the edit key! Can you realize it?
Answer: You mean, like a context sensitive popup menu? Well, we haven't thought about it yet. Perhaps it will be possible in a future version of GeboGebo.

Install this wiki stand alone on my PC, on my Internet Home page
Question: What is to do to install this wiki and gebogebo (if needed, and, if needed, i will use the opportunity and also install a gebbogebbo forum!) on my page by my usual provider T-online, Tiscali, 1+1, Gmx?
Answer: Please refer to the manual at link www.gebogebo.org .

Include real HTML-code
Question: How it is possible to include real HTML-Code or simulate the correspondant functions (preselected font name, table etc..)
Answer: By turning off the wiki syntax interpretion. Just wrap your HTML code into |# and |#. Take a look at the table-question and answer below.

You just enter the code right into your text - like you would in a standard html file. this way you can even change your page layout using tables & styles &c.
only possible to edit within (virtual) body tags though, i.e. on the individual tag level (including body tags). you may still apply styles to these - try it out.
Function "include"
Question: In Wakka wikki for example, it is possible to realize with { { i n c l u d e actual_release } } that what is named "template" in wikipedia. all pages with this or other include's show the actual release number. Other applications: "left rand" index, list of available languages, top presentation etc.

Function "colored left rand", "top rand", "bottom rand" of course with text or/and pictures
Question: How to use colors?
simple. <span style="color: #ff9966;">go</span> <span style="color: #6699ff;">to</span> <span style="color: #9966ff;">the</span> <span style="color: #ff0099;">edit</span> <span style="color: #9999ff;">box</span> <span style="color: #9966ff;">to</span>
<span style="color: #ff9900;">check</span> <span style="color: #ffff66;">out</span> <span style="color: #ff99ff;">how</span> <span style="color: #669966;">i</span> <span style="color: #9966ff;">did</span> <span style="color: #ff6699;">this.</span>

Function "internal jump within a page"
Question: A beautiful hability of the wiki from wikipedia is to allow internal jumps within a page, to generate automaticaly a page index, and to have the possibility to address the jumps points (Einsprungsstellen) from an other pages. It is so possible to avoid a lot of repetitions. Can you make this helpfull function available? I see you have a subdivision "part" in the pages. Is it possible to use it in links?

Changing the CSS (style sheets) for wiki / pages
Question: Is it possible to upload my own CSS and/or modifty the CSS for my wiki?

It is only possible for individual tags. i.e. you can only edit the body section as it were.
for a simple page wide standard text style start with a new body tag & define it like e.g.
tagbody style="color: #ff9966; line-height: 33px; font-weight: bolder;tag

Wikiseite wieder l÷schen?

Edit page don't work
Question: I am clicking on the button "edit page", but nothing happens.
I am the admin and everybody is allowed to change everything.
What happened or what's to do ?
Answer: Please try to delete all cookies set in your browser, that are related to wikihost.org. Perhaps this solves the problem.
Reply: I have the same problem. Deleting all the cookies does not help. Even using another computer does not help. Login as another user is my only option ...

Unable to display tables.
_Questions:_ I've even tried copying the text from the manual to get a table to display but it just doesn't work. Trying to find sample pages that contain tables that I can copy to my own wiki. If you have a working table, can you add a link to it here please?
_Answer:_ I personally don't like the GeboGebo syntax for tables. I would suggest, you try to use the normal HTML-table syntax. Just place all html code inside |# and #|.
Here is an example:

a **table** __cell__ ~~with~~ //formatting//

View this pages code, to see what exactly I did. Thomas
Thanks for this, also found a resource at link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Table
Actually made sense! Copy it to the Gebo manual please

Where have all the line breaks gone?
Question: When disabling the wiki syntax interpretion, there are no more line breaks. Take a look at Link this page. It should show no wiki syntax interpretation, monospaced fonts and line breaks. That worked perfectly until some days ago. How can I get them back?
Answer: Yes, this is a change caused by a bug fix we made. Actually, the behaviour is alright as it is now. In HTML, text formatting (e.g. line breaking) has to be set explicitely by using the correspondig HTML tags (in this <BR>). I changed your linked page, and inserted the <PRE></PRE> text pair at the beginning and end. This tells the browser to keep formattings. See any good HTML documention resource (e.g. link http://de.selfhtml.org) for details. Sorry for the conviniences, the bug caused for you. Thomas@wikihost

TOC-plugin: Is it possible to limit the headline level shown?
